As a subconsultant, Globaltech provided the preliminary design, bidding, and value engineering services for the membrane concentrate and wastewater effluent disposal pump system into a deep injection well for the City of Cooper City Membrane Softening Water Treatment Plant and Wastewater Treatment Plant.
A new pump station was added to send concentrate and effluent to a deep injection well from a holding pond. The pump station consists of two 125 hp horizontal split case centrifugal pumps and vacuum priming system. The membrane concentrate disposal point was moved from the headwork of the wastewater plant to a newly installed deep injection well. The disposal of membrane concentrate to the deep injection well frees up wastewater treatment capacity. The project also involved working with plant staff to install the pumps as an in-house project in order to reduce cost.
Through value engineering, City procurement, and City installation of piping and equipment, the overall cost of the project was reduced. Only the electrical and I&C portion was bid and awarded to an electrical contractor. The pumping system and deep well have been operational since March of 2002.
