Globaltech provided design-build services to the Glades Utility Authority/Palm Beach County Water Utilities Department to construct a regional wastewater pump station at the South Bay Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The new pump station is an in-line booster pump station that pumps raw wastewater through an existing 10-inch diameter forcemain to the headworks at the Belle Glade Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The pump station is a triplex skid-mounted pump station with variable frequency drives (VFDs) centrifugal-style wastewater pumps capable of handling 3-inch solids. The pump station is capable of pumping approximately 1,720 gpm at 98 psi. The pumps are each approximately 60 HP. Installation also included the tie-in of 10” PVC and 12” PVC force mains and 2” PVC water mains.
The pump station includes a bypass line that allows the existing four feeding pump stations to pump around the new pump station directly all the way to the Belle Glade WWTP when flows are low. The pump station operates automatically based on suction side pressure.
