As a subconsultant, Globaltech provided engineering design for process mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation to construct a new wastewater plant for Grand Bahama Utility which would replace a fragile and overloaded old concrete wastewater plant that served the hotel district. Some of Globaltech’s responsibilities included hydraulic modeling and profile evaluation, preparing process diagrams, layout and sizing site piping, designing RAS pumping system and controls, coordinating sizing and limits of diffusers and blowers, sizing influent screens, designing flow splitter box, and complete design of the lift station site.
The wastewater treatment plant was designed and constructed as a design-build package and has a capacity of 1.2 mgd. The plant consists of a bar screen, surge tank, two extended aeration basins, clarifier, chlorine contact chamber, disc tertiary filter, and a disposal well.
The plant sells the filtered effluent for reuse to the nearby world class Reef Village Golf Course at Port Lucaya Hotel & Resort. During low reuse demand, the effluent is disposed of through the disposal well.
Construction was completed in six months.
