As the prime consultant, Globaltech was responsible for design, permitting, and services during construction for a 0.75 mgd expansion to the Highland Beach Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water Treatment Plant (WTP).
Globaltech was responsible for the process mechanical, electrical and controls engineering for the build-out expansion of the Town’s reverse osmosis water treatment plant from 2.25 mgd to 3.0 mgd. The project also required hydraulic modeling and finished water quality pilot studies.
New facilities included additional membrane vessels and elements in the existing membrane trains, a new Floridan Aquifer supply well, four new high service pumps, and a new backup generator. The three existing membrane trains were upgraded from 0.75 mgd to 1.0 mgd each. The new 2.0 mgd supply well provided redundant capacity to the two existing wells. Of the four 50 hp high service pumps, one was added to provide firm capacity and the other three pumps replaced three older pumps.
The new 1,750 KW Caterpillar backup generator was also equipped with an outdoor sound attenuating enclosure, 10,250 gallon above ground double wall sub base diesel tank, and a bi-fuel conversion kit. The bi-fuel conversion kit allows the generator to be run on solely diesel or on a combination of natural gas and diesel. The bi-fuel extends the run time on the generator fuel tank from 7 to 14 days.
