As a subconsultant, Globaltech provided engineering services to design and construct a new water treatment system for the Town of Lantana Water Treatment Plant (WTP). Based on pilot testing conducted by Globaltech, the treatment process of aeration, sodium hypochlorite addition, sand filtration, ammonia addition, filtration, anion exchange, and ion exchange softening was chosen and implemented. The overall project consisted of preliminary technology evaluation, pilot testing and process selection, engineering design, bidding, and construction administration.
The Town of Lantana is a coastal community that serves approximately 9,500 residents. Their previous plant was 40 years old and nearing its useful service life and could not meet the 2004 EPA Drinking water regulations for disinfection byproducts. Its water quality issues included the following:
